New to writing web copy? Or maybe you’ve written web copy before and just want to take your skills up a notch. Either way, KiLLit Online has all the tips and tricks that you need for your ad copy. When you want your web copy to perform better, here are some considerations that will make all the difference.
The Right Length
First, consider the length of your web pages. What exactly is the right length? Well, the answer gets complicated. As far as Google is concerned, the right web page length changes quite often. Generally, though, pages with about 400 to 500 words perform well. Of course, if you really want to kick things up a notch, then have a page or a blog post with 1,000 to 2,500 words. That may seem like a lot of content, but several studies have shown that longer pages get more organic traffic. You shouldn’t clog your entire website with lengthy essays, of course, but having just a few of these longer pages can really pack a punch.
The Visual
We’ve talked about visuals before, but we’re not talking about your images or colors this time. Right now, we’re talking about how a reader’s eyes will scan over your content. You’ll want to arrange your content in a way that feels natural to your readers. In the English-speaking world, this can mean a simple left-to-right pattern. You don’t have to limit yourself, though. A Z-shaped pattern can do the job, too. Take a bit of time to research different copy patterns and choose the one that works best for your needs.
Simplify It
Now let’s get back to your words. You’ll want to keep your wording simple. Short sentences are best. Use a lot of transition words and avoid using too much jargon. While you may have lots of intelligent readers, too much jargon will bog them down when they’re just looking for the best restoration service. Give them the information that they want in the most straightforward way possible.
Make It Mobile
Once you’ve published your web copy, test it out on a mobile device. If you have a hard time navigating your site, then you need to optimize your site for mobile devices. A lot of your clients will find you through mobile devices, so make sure that those clients have a good experience on your website.
