Has Denny’s found a way to have their hotcakes and eat them too? Marketing-wise, they seem to have found a way to get a little inexpensive advertisement (considering its extensive reaction) that appeals to their already-impressive customer-base while pulling in a few new faces.
Denny’s visual message on Twitter included the meme “zoom in on the syrup” which has become the catch-phrase for Denny’s on the social media platform, according to Marketing Land. It produced the largest reaction that the restaurant chain has received in any social media marketing.
The interactive visual includes a stack of Denny’s hotcakes with a portion of syrup and glob of butter. Since yesterday, it has fostered a reported 114,000 likes from Twitter users, 84,000 retweets, and 1,600 replies. In addition, they’ve taken in an added bonus with 5,000 new followers. The “zoom in on the syrup” is the brand’s most popular tweet ever.
This is the best reaction to a Denny’s ad since their “Flika da Wrist” song parody, which brought on 41,000 likes and 48,000 retweets.
Other popular tweets on the social media platform included a selfie submitted by Ellen Degeneres during the Oscars in March of last year – which still holds the Number 1 slot in Twitter’s history – brandishing more than 3.2 million retweets and 2.2 million likes. In second place is a tweet submitted by a member of One Direction in 2011 with more than 2.3 million retweets and 944, 000 likes. In third place is Barack Obama’s 2012 “four more years” tweet with over 944,000 retweets and 625,000 likes.
